The Role
We are looking for an experienced Validation Engineer that will be responsible for the development, execution, and management of validation activities for pharmaceutical customers across New Zealand.
This is a full-time position Mon-Fri
- Ensuring that equipment, processes, and computer systems comply with local New Zealand Medsafe regulations, international standards (e.g., PIC/S GMP), and client quality requirements
- Develop, author, and execute validation protocols, including but not limited to Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) for new and modified equipment, utilities (e.g. HVAC, WFI systems), and manufacturing processes
- Conduct and document Computer System Validation (CSV) in line with GAMP 5 guidelines and 21 CFR Part 11/PIC/S Annex 11 requirements
- Prepare and review validation documentation, including Validation Master Plans (VMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Protocols, Summary Reports, and Traceability Matrices
- Perform comprehensive Risk Assessments utilizing tools like Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to systematically identify potential failures and determine the scope and rigour of validation activities, adopting a science and risk-based approach.
- Ensure all validation activities are compliant with current Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), New Zealand Medsafe regulations, and applicable international regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, EMA, ISO).
What we are looking for
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar role in the Pharmaceutical or a closely regulated Biopharmaceutical/Medical Device industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or similar) or a relevant Science discipline
- In-depth, practical working knowledge of validation principles and lifecycle management for equipment, process, and CSV
- Strong proficiency in GAMP 5 guidelines for Computer System Validation
- Great Commercial Acumen
- Must have great technical knowledge
- Must hold rights to work in NZ
