Our client is a well-established and growing services company within the chemical storage industry based in the Bay of Plenty.
The Role
You’ll play a key role in the design, specification, and delivery of chemical and hazardous waste storage systems, ensuring compliance with New Zealand standards and best practice.
Duties include
- Preparing and reviewing Inspection Test Reports (ITRs), compliance documentation, and certification records
- Conducting inspections of tanks, pipework, valves, bunding, and hazardous chemical containment systems
- Ensuring systems comply with WorkSafe, EPA, HSNO, and applicable AS/NZS standards
- Assessing structural integrity, corrosion risks, leak hazards, and mechanical condition of hazardous substance infrastructure
- Supporting audits, inspections, and regulatory certification processes
- Identifying potential safety or compliance risks and recommending engineering corrective actions
- Assisting with the safe handling, transfer, and storage of hazardous chemicals and waste products
- Working closely with operations and maintenance teams to improve equipment
What We’re Looking For
- Mechanical Engineer with 8+ years’ experience in relevant industries
- Chemical or hazardous waste storage systems
- Industrial pipework and tank systems.
- Worksafe Requirements
- EPA & HSNO Regulations
- Hazardous substance compliance standards
- Experience preparing:
- Inspection reports
- Compliance documentation
- Engineering certifications
- Audit support documentation
- Strong knowledge of materials compatibility and corrosion considerations
