Our client is seeking a Retail Team Lead to lead a busy trades department. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader.
The Role
Lead a High-Performing Trade Team focus on customer service, overseeing daily operations: supplying quality building materials and trade products to commercial customers and contractors. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in building supplies, construction materials or trade retail who enjoys leading people.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), including one weekend day on a roster.
About the Role
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing trade team.
- Drive exceptional customer service and build lasting customer relationships.
- Manage daily operations to ensure smooth and efficient workflows.
- Oversee inventory accuracy, stock availability and order fulfilment.
- Monitor departmental performance and achieve operational targets.
- Maintain high standards of workplace health and safety.
- Support wider business operations through Duty Management responsibilities.
- Leadership experience within the building supplies, construction, hardware or trade merchant sector.
- Ability to motivate, coach and develop successful teams.
- Strong operational and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence (Forklift licence advantageous but not essential).
- Knowledge of timber, building materials, hardware or power tools.
