This role combines team leadership and customer service with regular yard duties, including forklift driving, loading and unloading vehicles, picking orders and maintaining an organised and safe yard.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with retail leadership experience with interest or experience in building supplies yard, timber merchant or similar trade.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, including one weekend day on a roster.
The Role
- Lead, support a team of 15 with x2 2IC's and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the trade team.
- Provide excellent service to customers, builders and contractors implementing necessary changes to optimize customer experience.
- Performance management of staff; training, coaching, disciplinaries.
- Work hands-on in the yard alongside the trade team.
- Operate a forklift to move, load and unload building materials.
- Pick and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Receive incoming deliveries and check stock.
- Keep the yard clean, organised and safe.
- Ensure orders are completed correctly and on time.
- Monitor stock availability and support accurate inventory management.
- Maintain high workplace health and safety standards.
- Experienced retail leadership of teams
- Previous team leadership or supervisory experience performance management
- Comfortable undertaking physical yard duties and working outdoors.
- Knowledge or interest of timber, building materials, hardware or power tools.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- A practical, organised and hands-on approach.
- The ability to coordinate workloads and keep the yard operating efficiently.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- A full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence.
- The ability to obtain a forklift certificate if you do not already hold one.
