The Role
This is a key position working across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will play a lead role in delivering expert planning advice, managing resource consent processes, and building strong client relationships.
Duties include:
- Providing expert planning, policy, and consenting advice
- Managing land use and subdivision consent applications end-to-end
- Liaising with Councils and key stakeholders throughout the consent process
- Supporting project feasibility, due diligence, and early-stage planning
- Working closely with senior stakeholders to deliver outcomes aligned with project goals
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, planning frameworks, and NZ standards
- Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Contributing to the growth of the planning function across the Bay of Plenty and Waikato
What we are looking for
- Planner with 5-10+ years’ experience in RMA planning
- Background in either local government or private consultancy
- Strong technical knowledge across land development and resource consenting
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide practical, solutions-focused advice
- Proven ability to influence and persuade clients and stakeholders, building trust and guiding decisions that support successful project outcomes and business growth
- Solid understanding of Bay of Plenty and Waikato planning frameworks or other New Zealand Cities. Must have New Zealand experience.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and meet productivity targets
